I am unable to select a group to forward an e-mail to using my contacts. Has anyone been able to do this?

Welcome to Android Central! This has long been a deficiency of the Gmail app, for unclear reasons. I use Group Share for Gmail to create emails that I want to send to a contact group, but this can't be used for forwarding. I suppose a workaround would be to copy the body of the email you want to forward, then use Group Share for Gmail to create a new email and paste the text into it.

You could also look into 3rd party email clients like Aqua Mail or Maildroid, but I'm not sure if they have this option either.

Another work-around is to use a PC set up for the same email address, and put the group in that program's address book. Then you can forward an email to the group on the PC.
