New to Google Voice - Need Help

I would like to know if I can dial out or receive calls on the Voice number but using the built in phone app on my Verizon S5. Right now the only way I can see to dial out is to use Hangouts which I do not particularly like. Also, if I must use Hangouts is there a "speaker phone" feature that I do not see? Maybe there is some other app that I can use with the new Voice number? I really don't see any reason to use Hangouts unless it is the only way to dial out on Voice number.

Install the Google Voice app, in there are settings to prompt you to dial from your Voice number, with various options. I found it worked best (at least for the prompt) when I dialed the full 10 digits rather than just the main 7.
