Welcome to the forums. You are running Ubuntu Touch on your Moto G?

It's easier. If you can find a custom recovery like TWRP for your device, you can use fastboot to flash that, then use TWRP to flash the SuperUser app.

Put the superuser file in your internal storage.

To fastboot flash, you need to install fastboot and adb tools. In Terminal you can type: 'sudo apt-get install android-tools-fastboot' and 'sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb'

After that, the terminal commands would be, 'sudo fastboot flash recovery <twrp recovery filename>
Then, you can reboot to recovery to flash the superuser file.

I would make sure you have a stock ROM in case something goes wrong. Back up everything you don't want to lose.

XDA would be a good place to look for your files that you need.
