my play store setting is set to auto update but there are times that i can see the updates available and don't install automatically. i don't know if it takes time or there is a setting that i need to change.

my understanding on auto update, as soon as it is available, it should install the update regardless on the time it is available(provided no permission needed).

Welcome to Android Central! I know that the system doesn't necessarily show you the app update notification as soon as it becomes available, because there are plenty of times when I've seen an update for an app in the Play Store without a notification showing up. The notification will show up later if I don't update the app right away, so I think this means that the Play Store only periodically checks for app updates (for the purpose of notifying the user). This probably also means that those apps won't be automatically updated until the Play Store has checked for updates.

Remember also that seeing an update doesn't mean that the version compiled for your phone has been updated. (That's one advantage of the Play store - you get the version you need, even if there are a few different compilations out there.)

So technically, we don't know the update frequency? and how many times it check and install daily. the control we have are the auto update and manual update.

Technically, we don't know. It's something you'd probably have to ask a Google engineer.

There is no set frequency at which apps get updated. Every time the internet is switched on, the play store looks for the updates available. If you have turned on your settings to let apps be updated only on Wi-Fi, then, the apps get updated when you switch on Wi-Fi.
