    Please read my story...

I moved my photos from my samsung phone to an LG laptop.
I 'cut' them to the laptop because I needed space on the phone.

THEN... I removed the USB cable.
For some reason I pressed 'Ctrl+Z' (I think by mistake, twice) and the files got removed from the laptop. In my understanding, 'Ctrl+Z' undoes a command right? So it should be undone to the Samsung phone, BUT without the cable, I don't know where the files went or what to do to recover them... They no longer appear on the laptop.

    Please help...
    I need these photos...

    Thanks in advance.

I suspect the files would have been in RAM and are now gone

You did a "cut" from the phone, then a "paste" to the computer.
The ctrl-z on the computer did an "undo" of the paste.
The files themselves were never actually on the clipboard, just their path and file names.
On the computer, check the recycle bin.

This. When you use the cut command, it immediately deletes the source files and stores them in RAM. This is why it's best to use the copy command instead when transferring files, then manually deleting them from the old location after verifying they pasted properly to the new location.

It may be possible to use a file recovery program on your phone to look for those images. If you go that route, I'd shut the phone down until you're ready to try recovering them to help prevent any data from being overwritten.

To follow on, any file recovery program will only work if your device is rooted. Diskdigger may be able to recover the thumbnails without root but, of course, they will be poor quality

I've been able to recover some photos on a non-rooted phone in the past by using a program on a computer and tethering it. Unfortunately it's been so long I don't remember the program name.
