How to connect my Gear S device to my phone?

Hello, i have a problem with connecting my gear s device onto my phone and im hoping someone here can help me, i have a Samsung phone and have recently gotten a Samsung s device, i downloaded the "samsung gear" app and when i try to pair my device it tells me to check if my phone is compatible, not letting me connect the device, I wanna connect to the app but im having trouble, Please help someone?
