Help with GoSMS, really SMS in general.

ok, I did a quick seacrh with no direct answer so here it goes:

I am a brand new Android user, so bear with me. Im a blackberry convert.

So i downloaded GoSMS for my Samsung Mesmerize and I cant figure out how to use it as my primary SMS. I still get the text notification on my messages icon. Is there any way to turn off the stock SMS without deleting it?

It depends on what settings are available on your stock sms program.

When you start it, go to menu/settings

You should be able to turn off notifications and such, and in some cases, turn off auto-retrieval.

Worth a shot.

There-in lies the issue.

Personally I've never tried this. Am not quite sure if the settings are linked with both programs.

But, you can always change the settings in your stock app, then start your other app and send an sms to yourself! See what happens.

Maybe the easiest would be to un-install the stock app.

Of course if you un-install, you may lose any saved sms. Who knows.

Or you can try doing a Force Stop through manage applications (but will probably re-start at the next boot)

i turned auto-retrieve off and im still getting sms in GoSMS. so i think im good! I appreciate your help

You don't need to turn off auto retrieve, just turn off notifications in the stock messaging app turn notification on for go sms.
Auto retrieve I'd for mms.
Everything will work the same just Go sms will be default.
