I have an old Galaxy s6 edge on ATT. I'm trying to update from 5.1.1 to the current android before I sell. When I go to the system settings and check for update none appears but I know 7.0.1 was just released on July 25. Is there a way to force it to find the update? There is usually a "check once every 24 hrs" limit on the update but I have changed the date manually and checked a ton of times with nothing. I don't have a sim in it but figured that wouldn't matter. Does anyone know of a way I can get this thing to update without rooting? Thanks.

    BLUF, no.

From what I have read, the only way to get an update for your AT&T Samsung device is to connect it to their network (install a SIM). Then it could take a few days for their update servers to recognize your device. Be patient and it will eventually be pushed, as they often will stagger a release to minimize the impact to their network. Continually checking for an update won't get it any quicker. And since it is an AT&T phone, you can't grab the update yourself and install with ODIN because the update files for AT&T's more recent Samsung phones aren't available from the usual sources.
