I'm afraid I know very little.

    I have a Galaxy J1 and I've put a 16G SD card in it.

Try to download and install the Kindle app today and it gives an error.

The man in the shop says it is because i have no space left.

I say there should be space on the SD card.

He says it will only install on the system memory and that is full.

    He says make some room.

    Uninstall unnecessary apps.

When I get home I take a look: I can't identify what is unnecessary and what is not.

And I don't know what I can move onto the SD card.

I need some help with this basic things about the Android system on a J1.

    Can anyone help?

First, try Settings, Storage, Cached Data. You can safely clear the cache, which, if substantial, may free sufficient memory to allow the download.

The man in the shop is correct in that apps will not install on the SD card by default, so you need to make sure you have enough storage space (not memory as you put it, that's your RAM) on the phone itself before downloading. The J1 looks to be a very low end budget phone by today's specs, with only 4 GB of internal storage total. So to be honest, I wouldn't expect you to be able to load much of anything when it comes to apps. Much of that storage will be taken up by the operating system itself. And due to the low end specs, I wouldn't expect it to be able to run modern apps very smooth either.

About the only thing you may be able to do is use "adoptable storage." I'm not sure if this is even an option on your phone, but it allows the phone to use the SD card as if it were extra internal storage. It isn't without its own drawbacks, though. In general, your SD card is best suited for media and other personal files for a number of reasons, and apps are best left on internal storage.
