Streaming file stops

Galaxy A3 Android 6.0.1

I use this site to stream radio - http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/nonuk/sbr_vlow/llnw/bbc_6music.m3u8

But if I turn the screen off or the display times out then the file stops streaming, any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! That's common if you stream using the browser. Browsers usually aren't coded to continue playing media in the background when the screen is asleep (unlike a dedicated media player app).

Cheers, so should I look to stream this content through a different app?

Yes -- if the streaming service has an app, then definitely use the app, since they would've coded it to keep playing in the background, even with the screen off.
