If a, say, email app is set as the default email app, all other email apps will have "set as default" greyed out. You have to unset the set one first, then you'll get back the "set as default" on all of them. If one is the default, the others can't be the default. Unfortunately, except for texting, you can't just set an app as the default for that type of app and have it automatically unset the current default. (Don't look at me - I didn't design Android.)
    SpookDroid likes this.

Maybe I am missing something I know about the default mentioned but when you're in an app itself under the setting Permissions is the setting Set as Default where you can set certain things. In Default Apps I have half a dozen set as default, but in the app itself the option is greyed out on all.

If I am reading this correctly I'm having the same problem which would be odd as this is a setting I change all the time. Settings - Apps - App Manager - [choose App] Messages - Set as Default - **PROBLEM**.
This is where both the "Go to to Supported URLs" and "Supported Web Addresses" options are grayed out. Ideas?
