Google Maps used to work perfectly. It suddenly decided to put an ad for Lyft and Uber at the bottom of the screen, where the "start" button is, so I can look up an address, but I cannot get directions. Does anyone know how I can remove the ad? The only option it gives me is to download the Lyft and Uber apps, which I really have no interest in.

I just now updated to the latest version, just in case - but no ads. You evidently installed something else that gave you the adds. See [Guide] Malware / Adware / Popup Removal.

Thank you for the quick response. I did reboot in safe mode; the ad is still there. It appears to be from Google Play Store, and it wants me to download the apps for Uber and Lyft. I'll try reinstalling the Google Maps app. Thanks again.

You could try turning off notifications from Google play store.

I believe that worked. Thanks, Kodak2!
