Hi, i recently bought a 2nd hand Galaxy Tab A6. I've used it without issue, however...

I accidentally clicked on the Kids Zone setting and now I'm stuck in it! I've contacted the dude I bought it off (last September!) And he couldn't help, as he didn't know the 4 digit pass code.

I've looked online and followed a remedy that included rebooting, holding down volume, going into Safe Mode...
That didn't work, as I couldn't get further than the reboot in Safe Mode...
I really do not want to have to factory reset! Can anyone help me please?

When it reboots, it says Safe Mode in the bottom left corner, but the Kids Zone page is still there!

How do I get onto the Safe Mode bit?

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean that you couldn't get further than the reboot in Safe Mode? Are you saying it didn't fully boot into Safe Mode? Or you got into Safe Mode, but were unable to delete or disable the Kids Mode app?

Hi, when I reboot, it says safe mode in the bottom left corner, but when I swipe it simply comes onto the Kids Zone home page.

Is it actually called Kids Zone? I thought Samsung's child-friendly mode was called Kids Mode.

It is Kids Mode. And what's also weird is that although it's been activated, it also says it's not fully downloaded!

The kids mode thing keeps downloading... Safe Mode won't kick in. Just has that little sign in bottom left hand corner. The Kids Mode just overrides everything! This is really annoying!

Are you able to boot into Recovery and wipe the cache partition? If that's successful, then try the previously mentioned methods to remove or disable Kids Mode. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28352

Hi, thanks. How do i boot into recovery? All i can serm to do is bring down the bits about airplane mode, visibility, bluetooth etc. The Kids Mode wont even download fully! And all the Safe Mode does is stay in the bottom corner!

Look at the link in the previous post about how to boot into Recovery. If you can't seem to power the tablet off, you can always press and hold Power and Vol Down together for about 20 seconds to force a shutdown.

That's Download Mode, aka Odin Mode, which is used to download a new firmware file to the device when connected to a PC via USB. You can force another shutdown safely, assuming you're not connected to anything. Press and hold Power and Vol Down for about 20 seconds again. (You typically get into Download Mode by powering on using the Power, Home, and Vol Down buttons (while Recovery is typically with Vol Up).

At this point, you might just have to do a factory reset. Sorry!

Not sure if this is important. But it says

    E: failed to find/misc partition.

This is a joke! I've completed the factory reset but still cannot get access! It keeps bringing me back to the Verfication page, even though ice entered my email and password!!

What the heck is going on?

That screen is typically seen with Factory Reset Protection. The Google account it's asking for is probably the previous owner's. When you got the tablet, do you recall having to go through the whole Setup Wizard, or did it boot right into the homescreen from the start?

    Hi
I'm sure I did it. It did seem to remember my account details. Email and password.

It had my mobile number as well. It just seemed not to get past the Verification page, like it was stuck/glitching!

Sorry, but I'm not sure what to try next. When problems persist immediately after a reset, that can suggest a problem with the firmware. The solution is usually to reinstall the firmware, but we've already established that you're having problems with that as well, using both Smart Switch and Odin.

What part of the world do you live in? If you're in the US, try bringing it to a Best Buy and ask the Samsung agent there if they can help you reflash the firmware.
