    I have the following smartphones:

    1) Samsung GT-S7275R running Android 4.2.2

    2) Samsung SM-J110G running Android 4.4.4

Could someone advise me please for each phone?

    a) Is it possible to upgrade the android version?
    b) If yes, to what version?
    c) If yes, how do I do the deed?

    Any help is warmly appreciated.

Generally speaking - if devices that old don't find updates when using the check for updates in the device settings there is no official update beyond what it's running.

A quick check on sammobile.com shows that to be the case for both devices.

Can those still be updated in another way? Maybe. The most popular 3rd-party ROM (LineageOS) doesn't seem to support those devices. The OS that replaced, CyanogenMod, may have supported them but development on that has stopped. On top of finding a 3rd-party ROM for the devices, you also need to accept the risk that installing said update carries a risk that the device is rendered unusable.
