Short taps on my screen don't register

I recently came across an issue with my Samsung galaxy s8. I got it from my friend last week and had noticed no problems until now. When ever I make a short tap on the screen it won't register. I activated the "show taps" option in the developer options to see if my short taps create those white circles and they do. So basically my phone "sees" my taps but doesn't register them. This is extremely annoying when I'm trying to type fast. I do not have a screen protector. I know it's the duration of the tap because if I tap the screen with the same pressure but for a longer time it registers.
I'm new to android so I'm hoping there is some option to decrease the required amount of time to register my taps i.e. my short taps start working.

I fixed the issue. I had the "tap duration" setting activated.
