Welcome to Android Central! What's the exact model number? I think some of the variants don't support CDMA, which is still needed on Verizon for voice calls (although they're supposed to phase out CDMA at the end of the year, relying entirely on VoLTE for calls).

I just bought a new S10+ today. Mine came from Verizon with a SIM card already inside. I just had to deactivate my old phone first, then the new one was activated.

When I turned on the new phone, the instructions with voice included, told me exactly what to do next.

Also do i need a micro sd card? If so what kind?
I already had a nano SIM in my previous device, an LG V20. However, when I picked up my new Samsung Galaxy S10+ today, it already included a brand new nano SIM, so I didn't need to transfer my old SIM to my new phone.

I'd suggest that you ask Verizon if a new SIM is already in your new S10+.

From what I can tell, that variant supports CDMA, so it should work. Verizon still requires a SIM card, so it's still advisable to talk to them about getting a SIM for the phone when it arrives.

Verizon doesn't charge to install Sim cards.... Anyone can put the Sim card in. It doesn't take any special knowledge or skills. They don't even charge you FOR the card.
