Unable to log in to local site.

I have a wireless camera that has a web interface.

I can connect my Android phone OK, but can't log into the web interface. I get 'name not resolved', so it seem to be a DNS query problem.

I've put an entry into the /etc/hosts file:

192.168.50.10 camera.local camera

But it still seem to try to access the net for a domain name server. I've tried Chrome and Via browsers.

How do I fix this, please.

Is there a web interface in the camera? Or is the manufacturer providing a site for you to log into, to see the camera?

If there's a web interface in the camera, look in your router to make sure it's still connected as 192.168.50.10 (that can change, depending on the order in which things connect - IP addresses are usually assigned in order from 2 up, unless you've set that device to be forced to a particular address). Then try connecting to 192.168.50.10, not to the named site. (Your router is really at the subnet of 192.168.50? Most are at 192.168.1 (or 192.168.0).

The camera supplies the interface and the network.

My router is not involved as I log off my home network and then log onto the camera 'network'.
