Just wondering how those who use Amazon devices feel about Sidewalk. I have made sure our Ring system is opted out of Sidewalk. Personally I don't know how Amazon and start sharing someone's WiFi with out getting people to opt in. I figure several law firms are already working on the Class action law suite that is bound to happen.

If you want to opt out here is one article on how to opt out of Sidewalk.

The feature is so common these days that I am not worried. I have it turned off but it does have one feature I like - the ability to use alexa when your internet is down. The problem with that is usually if my internet is down do are my neighbors. Different isps like comcast has had similar features for years.

The problem is I am paying for my internet. I have not authorized Amazon to share my internet with my neighbors. I work in the privacy field. I don't care what protections Amazon has put in place. I see many issues forcing people into their new system. I would not see a problem if this was Opt-in, but making people Opt-out is a problem. Lawyers are going to have a field day with this in several states.

as much as sidewalk has been in the press the last few months, and not just on tech sites. The emails about the new feature and more, there is absolutely no reason for echo users not to know about the new feature and opt out before it went live. Having to opt out is the fact of life and there have been many court cases over it where tech won.

Isn't that almost exactly what the cable company partnership between BrightHouse, Cox, Optimum, Time Warner Cable, and xfinity does with "Cable WiFi" etc.? There I don't think you even have the option to opt out, do you?
