If anyone didn't see this it was interesting, had some good insight to Family Guy. Apparently they use a 50 - 90 piece orchestra for every show.

A friend of mine will soon be getting a new phone. First smartphone, and he's chosen Android over iOS. He's been looking at the SGS III, but I'm kinda looking at the Optimus G for him as well. I'm asking Chatter's advice. Which one would be best? He's kinda techno-dumb (his words) but wants to step into the new world. (and he's almost 40, so not a kid either). All things considered, which would you guys recommend?

I'm fairly partial to samsungs, but I'd say they're both about the same as far as ease of use goes, unless head gonna trick it out with a launcher/ROM/etc, I'd go with whatever's cheapest.

I prefer Samsung myself, though I don't know much about the Optimus G.

I don't have any experience with the Optimus G, but I really like my SGSIII. It's available on all the major carriers (along with some of the smaller players). The SGSIII also has great developer support, but that may not be important to him. What carrier is he on?

Nexus 4. Relatively cheap, no stinkin contract, cutting edge software. Might as well get the noob a good device from the start.

If he's on a GSM carrier, that would be the way to go. Get OTA updates directly from Google without carrier interference.

I don't think he'll want to pay up front for the N4 when the SIII will be free on contract. And I highly doubt rooting and ROMs are in his future. At least not for the first while... Sounds like the SGS III it is.
