Edit: pulled a zero ^

alright i guy's i'm taking the jump now where's a guide so i can get crackin(lol i,m nervous)

With my losing data comment, the biggest problem with that is probably game saves. You can transfer your music to a computer. Game saves can't be accessed until rooted, though Wug's kit *MAY* be able to back them up. Never tried myself

zero has a great guide to unlock the 7 here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ne...-pc-linux-how-unlock-root-flash-recovery.html

2def's restore thread here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ne...ide-factory-image-restore-your-nexus-7-a.html

dm's kraken guide here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ne...se-kraken-rooting-hacking-your-nexus-7-a.html

I'd recommend reading all of them a few times before going for it

It gets less frightening the more you do it (twss?). And people here can help you with any problems. Nexii are nearly impossible to brick. If the USB port works, you can fairly easily fix just about anything.

Edit: also, unlocking the bootloader is painless (aside from the data loss). Really just about nothing that can go wrong there. People are more likely to have problems when they go to flash custom recoveries/roms

Depends on who you do it with and what guide you follow....but yeah, truth.
