When the veil was finally lifted on Tegra 3 we knew that it would be a great performer. Four Cortex A9 cores + a fifth companion core. Nvidia promised everything with this SoC. Spectacular performance and great battery life.

We've seen the benchmarks and they are impressive. Even more impressive is the real world feedback of the performance. Basically this thing screams. It runs Android great, Play Store games amazingly, and the exclusive Tegrazone games look better than anything else on any mobile platform (and maybe some consoles). But what about battery life?

We've seen that battery life is pretty darn good. I'm focusing on phones rather than tablets for one reason, we rely on our phones to keep in contact with the world. Tablet battery life is important, but if it dies it's not as big of a deal. A phone needs to last on a charge, and it appears that nvidia has worked some magic with the 5th companion core. It takes over when nothing too taxing is going on, and lets the four more powerful cores be completely turned off.

So, I think it's safe to say that Tegra 3 is a hit and has accomplished everything nvidia said that it would.

Are there other SoC's? Sure, but nvidia will always have exclusive content that will take full advantage of their particular hardware.
