Audio recording quality with android phone in general

hi,

I love android phones in general, but every time I try to record something loud, I get frustrated because the sound always clips.
I have had my second phone, a Galaxy Nexus, almost a year ago. Before that I had a Galaxy S. Both the same problem.
Whatever the app I try to use, the sound always is clipping because it was too loud when I was recording it.
All the apps are about sound quality, but they all clip out when comes the time to record loud sounds.

I would think it is normal if my fellow musicians had the same problem with their iPhones. They don't. The same sound from the same environment sounds ok when we listen to their recordings.
I do not think Apple has smarter poeple and can make things that Android phone makers can't do.

And what is it all about ?
a codec?
a piece of hardware that is of better quality ?

Are there Android phones that can record loud sounds the same efficient way that iPhones do ?
If so please tell me. It will be my next phone.
