Looking for a starter tablet for my son. What are the best choices under $100? Android 4 preferred. Initially it will be used for games and some light educational use, but it will grow over time.

Thanks!

Find a way to get the Nexus 7. Any tablet that I've used for that price hasn't been good. Can't even remember the names of them.

All the sub-100$ ones I've tried (and most of the sub-200$ ones other than the Nexus) didn't even come with the Google Play Store or the standard suite of Google Apps so not worth it IMO.

So unless you're willing to root, I'd recommend getting a Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire.

You mean least suckiest. Seriously, you won't find anything like that that will not leave you and your son utterly disappointed.

If have a little more than $100 dollars to spend. You can get the Samsung Galaxy Player for $150 or if can find one they are selling the 8GB Nexus 7 at OfficeMax for around $129.

Hi avekevin
I have read all your responses and find them to be untrue i have a 5 and 7 year old boys. the both have tablets that i found for $60 which is perfect for them to grow with.
And with a little research on a couple of android forums you can load all the google apps and google play. but the research is all on you and what features you want your kids to have. At this price features is what is lacking. more than likely it will not have dual cameras, GPS, and quite possible bluetooth. my kids are t young for these feature so i went with the Zeki tablet they were built the best of the tablets in this range. hope this help you
