I was reading my daily dose of news and I while I was reading I saw an article on the Time's website regarding getting paid to use your smartphone.

Get Paid to Use Your Smartphone | TIME.com

Interesting article, to say the least. It turns your phone's lockscreen into a billboard of sorts and every time you unlock your phone you get paid a penny and up to 3 cents an hour providing local ads to your phone's lockscreen and it is only available on Android at the moment. It got me thinking, while this is a cool idea and you could rake in some cash over the course of a year.

Is it a threat to Google?

I think somebody did the math on this, and if you were able to do it round the clock (which you can't since you need to sleep), one would only bring in $262.00 a year doing this, not a huge incentive. Don't think it's much of a threat...
