Google to sell Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $2.91 billion

Would you still buy a Moto X post Motorola/Lenovo Deal?

Re: Google selling Moto to Lenovo for 3 billion.

Wow. Good point/conspiracy theory.

Either way, I'm not terribly happy. I was loving the direction that Moto was headed and I can't see how a Lenovo takeover will continue with this direction. Until I can get GPE or Nexus phones on Verizon, this was my only option, and I love it. If this doesn't alter the Moto path, I'll be ok with it. But I don't see how that can happen with a Chinese company taking over.

If this is true, I will not be a Lenovorola customer if they stray from this software strategy.

Honestly, this isn't very surprising. Will be interesting to see how management shakes up.

If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am now.

I won't either. I'll buy something else. This software strategy is what I love about Moto. It's perfect for me. I can't imagine that Lenovo will allow Moto to run as it did under Google. Who knows, though. Maybe it'll be good...

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Re: Supposedly Google wants to offload Motorola to Lenovo

I saw this on Droid Life and a little part of me died.[outside linkage removed by moderator]

I love the direction Motorola has gone under Google. If Lenovo changes that direction, I'll just be lost as far as what kind of phone to get next.

Wait and see.

First - it's not official yet. (oops. now it is)

Second - we don't know how Lenovo would run Motorola.

Re: Lenovo reportedly set to buy Motorola from Google for up to $3 billion

2.35 bn and Motorola has 3 bn cash on hand.

Ah. thanks. Yeah, and they really don't need motorola mobile. As long as they have someone making their Nexus, they really don’t need another handpiece. Now that they’re doing smart homes, tv’s, home security systems, netbooks, the main phone o/s, google+, the largest most widely used search engine, that’s really all they need to own a significant portion of the world’s digital existence. Another handset doesn’t give them anything. And this gives them more cash to buy other stuff.

How is this not surprising? This was such low key that the announcement kicked us in the place where the sun doesn't shine. This move is such a huge enigma.

It's not surprising if you believed that Google bought Motorola for the patents.

Reuters is listed as the source in the original Verge posting.

I keep hoping that it's all a dream and I'll wake up and none of this happened...

Ugh. The service I received from Lenova on my IBM laptop was not as good.

Re: Lenovo reportedly set to buy Motorola from Google for up to $3 billion

they sold motorola Home to Arris for 2.35 bn and Motorola has 3 bn cash on hand.

they could sell off patents which gives them about 4-5 Bn

Where can I find that cash position proof? Just curious. Thanks
