Root: What is lost? (for GN3)

I'm trying to wrap my head around this whole concept of rooting phones.

With that in mind I have 2 questions:

Does rooting render any of the native functions (bloatware) inoperable?

Can someone please explain what is LOST with rooting? (It's always expressed as what more you can do but what is lost is seldom mentioned).

Yes, I've done a search and read stickies, so please don't direct me to another thread with the same keywords but not the answer. Please?

Rooting will void your warranty and give you root access (similar to administrator privileges), which makes it easier to screw up your phone.

Just rooting will not change the built in features in the stock software. However, flashing a custom ROM will remove some software features.

Thank you! That explanation helps me sort it out in my brain.

So if I have this right, rooting only nullifies the warranty and doesn't change anything else unless I mess with something because I have 'deeper' access?

Is this accurate?

Yeah that's correct. Rooting won't mess anything up on its own.

Rooting only puts the bullet in the chamber. It doesn't pull the trigger lol
