So I've been rocking an S3 for the past couple years and it's great watching all this fantastic hardware come out, but I find more and more as I get closer to upgrading that I'm wanting these phones to all offer more software implementations like the Moto-X that would offer real life benefits apart from just being more powerful.

Personally I want a larger than 5" screen so the current Moto-X doesn't fit my needs, but it's a shame to see the current batch of flagships coming out from LG, Samsung and HTC without anything even remotely close to what last years X offers.
Heck, just give me built in Touchless control, Active listening, and crazy battery life and I'd be so happy with any of the latest phones out there. So for me I'll probably wait to see what the X+ is like.

What do you think, are you more inclined to want the usability features of a phone to become more prominent in the final product, or are you content with just Spec bumps?

I want more useful features. But at the same time I despise larger phones so the Moto X works for me.

The Moto X proves you don't need the latest and greatest specs to have a great Android experience.

Sadly it's one of the reasons why I'm on my 29th upgrade since '09.

I'm already thinking about which to sell S5 or Z2 when LG releases the G3.

IDK, I'm leaning towards keeping the S5. Build Quality is starting to mean nothing to me, I guess it's the reason why I dropped the hTc One M8.

i prefer the useful features and user experience than just specs...and that's why i have a Moto X and feel rly happy and satisfied with it!

i also don't like big phones...not only because i have small hands, i think they draw too much attention on the street, bus or whatever!
so i prefer something more compact and discreet and the black Moto X does it perfectly!

I'm still very much a hardware kinda guy. But I like a happy medium. Great specs with good software for a fair price!

It's a lifestyle some people choose.

    Do we need $7 latte.
    ...$200 jeans
    ...$500 purse
    ...$200,000 car

I agree majority doesn't need or can't even tell the difference but it's life.

LG G3. I'm very happy with my S5 do I need to upgrade, no but I want too!

All else being equal, why would you not want better specs for the same price?

What do you think, are you more inclined to want the usability features of a phone to become more prominent in the final product, or are you content with just Spec bumps?
I am not sure that they would be mutually exclusive. If you are paying $700 for a phone with a great camera, and there is a competing product that is the same but with a REALLY great camera...why would you buy the first one?

imo, it's okay for rich people because they're rich but if you're aren't rich those are extremely dumb decisions and thats why so many people live paycheck to paycheck, depend on health insurance, rent don't own, have so much debt, are always in debt, etc.
If you are poor specs matter even more. Because you want to get the most for your money. There is a much larger difference between low end phones than there is between high end phones.
