Many of us use Google Assistant for the convenience of hands free use, especially when using both hands to do something like cooking or driving. It's convenient and easy to just say, "Okay google, text mom" then get a response, "Sure text mom, what's the message?" and all without having to distract yourself with trying to unlock your phone going 80mph down the i25 or chopping onions for dinner. Google has now taken that away from us without even an option. What they didn't realize is, how important this feature was for disabled people or elderly people. What if an elderly person were to fall and their phone is on the other side of the room and they say, "Hey google call 911 on speakerphone" just for google to either ding to acknowledge the request and sit on the lock screen or to just tell them, "You need to unlock your phone first ." This is just stupid and dangerous and all for "security". Maybe stop leaving your phone lying around in public then, just an idea.
