Why does my chromecast not show up on tv

I have a 19" RCA hdtv. My chromecast won't show up on the hdmi input. I only have one hdmi port so therefore only 1 input channel but it says no signal. No matter what I try nothing works. Please help me! I feel like I've just wasted my money for nothing.

Is the Chromecast connected to USB? Remember it won't work without power. Have you tried it in a different TV? Maybe the device is faulty...

Have you installed the Chromecast app?

Does the Chromecast show up in your Android device?

If you're trying to power the Chromecast from USB, try powering with the wall AC power pack.
