Google Home Mini can't find my Samsung Phone

I've had a Galaxy S9+ for almost a year and I can't imagine I've never had to find my phone at home in that time but I set it down somewhere the other night and then asked Google to find my phone but it looked for my old phone instead. I'd rather not remove my old phone since I do occasionally use it so I'm trying to figure out what the problem is it? Is it because I'm also signed into Samsung's system? If I try to find my phone through Google from a desktop browser it has no trouble. I don't see anything in the Google Home app that helps. Any ideas on how to get my Home Mini to find my phone?

No idea about finding it using your Home Mini but have you tried finding it via your Google Account? - https://myaccount.google.com/find-your-phone

The phone is already set up and I can find it using other methods as described. On a side note, I turned on my old phone for the first time since trying to find my new phone that fateful evening, and a few minutes after my new phone finished booting, find my phone started ringing it.
