Hi Guys,

Recently I have bought an AT&T version of the Google nexus one phone.Do I have to use AT&T as a carrier for this phone (Nexus One phone (GSM 3G 850/1900/2100MHz))? What is the best AT&T plan for a smart phone that is not too expensive?

AT&T will charge you a 15 or 25 dollar smart phone fee for the Data Plan portion. You will blow thru the 15 dollar plan in no time with this phone unless you spend most of your time in a WiFi environment. Its hard for me to use up the 2Gig of the 25 dollar plan because I have wifi available most places.

So the other decision is just about how much minutes you will use, and if you need nationwide calling.

You don't HAVE to use AT&T, you could use Tmo, but you won't get 3G if you do. You can also use Rogers in Canada.

I know you're in the US but since icebike brought up Rogers, people should know that the AT&T N1 will work on Bell, Rogers, Fido or Telus in Canada. I'm using mine on the Telus network and it runs great.
