new market auto update/ update all?

i recently got a nexus one
and i couldnt figure out how to update my apps that were preinstalled...

i put notify me when updates are available
and when i open the apps it didnt prompt me to update(but i know updates were available)
then the new market came out and i still couldnt find where
so i had to manually search up (voice search, google voice, maps, youtube, facebook...etc)
and it wasnt in my "my apps list" before i actually went to download it manually and update them

now i have auto update on and it seems to be working
but i think its crazy i had to manually go through my list search it up and redownload all these apps that came with the phone in order for them to be in my My Apps list on the market app

i'm not even sure i updated everything that is available, i couldve missed an app

am I not understanding how this update all/ auto update feature works?

on my old iphone i just go to the app store and go to the update tab and press update
i don't see why it cant be that simple....

any else have this problem?

i guess theres nothing in the market app that detects what apps you actually have installed?

What I learned was that the pre-installed apps never showed up and I had to update them manually at first. Then after that it works fine.

Did you try clearing the market cache?
