So I just got a N1 (coming from a Pre) and I love the phone so far (all 3 hours that I've had it) however I seem to be missing something....

How in the hell do I open the video player?

Oh and what is the prefered method of synching music/video to an android phone?

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Video formats Nexus One supports:
    Codecs: H.263, H.264, MPEG-4 encoders
    Resolution: up to 800480
    Bitrate: 2000kbps,
    Audio: AAC 48KHz 256Kbps

Convert your video to one of the support codec formats and configure the resolution settings.

You can use different software to convert the videos from itunes (library folder) or other formats supported by Nexus, here's one DRM Removal Software - Best DRM Remover and DRM Converter

Or here's an open source free program: Free Video Converter - Any Video Converter Free Version - convert video to any formats, avi to MPEG, avi to MP4, flv to MPG

Connect your USB cable to your device and computer. In My Computer look for the removable drive, then drag it into the video folder of your SD card.

    That should be it!
Let me know if that doesnt work.

No, I am comfortable converting video's and do that all the time. I meant.. Is there a preferred method for getting the video's/mp3 onto the phone (doubletwist, WMP, etc). The reason I ask is that the SD card does not appear to have a preset "video" folder, so before I just wanted to be sure. But more importantly...

How do I open a video on the phone itself... I can't find the video player... I checked Gallery but that seems to be for pictures only (and auto syncs with my picassa account which is pretty nifty) and the only other "media" player seems to be the Music player.. am I just not seeing it or do android phones not necessarily come with a built in video player?

There is no folder called video...

I put a sample video in a folder called media instead, however I still have no idea how to open it on the phone.

but you didn't create a VIDEO folder and try it that way?

Can you try that, create a video folder, and drag the file inside. Then go to Gallery and see if you can open it. And tell me if that doesn't work

Ok, I am officially a moron.

The Gallery app opens video files, and it looks like it scans the entire SD card for media (pics or video it looks like, although I haven't put any mp3's on to test for that).

Thanks for the help. And I think this means I might officially be too old to use this new fangled technology (time to buy that shotgun with the toe trigger)
