Another bit from the CSR apart from the usual specialist talk.

"All the Canadian orders were shipped yesterday and were supposed to be delivered today. It's strange that you haven't received any information for yours."

Well that makes me feel better....not really.

Here have a laugh at their awesome support. I got this a while back.

They told me an arrival date of Friday, Nov. 20.. that doesn't even exist in 2012

This is what I got in e-mail a while back
Hi ____

If you ordered on 11/13 and you did not receive a backorder notification email, your order is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. If you haven't already received a shipping confirmation email that contains the tracking number, you should receive one by end of day today. However, please note that it can take up to 1 business day for the tracking number to be activated. Rest assured that once you receive your ship confirmation email with your tracking number, it is in the process of shipping for an estimated arrival of Friday, Nov. 20.

Regards,

Shawn

First post.

It genuinely sucks that I seemingly missed the backorder/order complete margin (for people that received their phone in the past couple of days) by minutes, probably. Or hour. I don't know. I ordered it at 12:58 EST on 11/13 after finally getting through all the website issues. Certainly wish Google could have done something different to ensure we all could have gotten the phone we all wanted since the 13th.

It's also the first phone I've ever purchased on my own (broke college student here, oh yeah). I'm also a photojournalist. I was hoping I could use photosphere for a Hurricane Sandy aftermath project I'm working on over here in New York. It would have been a nice thing to have to set my work apart. I hope I have the phone by the next time I head down there for more reportage!

Speaking of which -- if anything, this whole fiasco is probably telling us a lot about ourselves and our impatience, isn't it? haha! Oh well, nothing I can do but wait it out. No big deal. Just a phone. At the Rockaways, I took panoramas on my DSLR as a backup, anyway. Happy Thanksgiving, folks!

To anyone losing excitement about the nexus 4, starting to think about pulling the trigger especially with the negative reviews probably instigated by this launch situation. This review from popular science restored some of my hope and patience.

Edit - good luck buying it on Friday as they recommend.

Called Google today and they basically said the same that the backorder email stated. I ordered at 12:36pm est - from Massachusetts. No updates regarding backorders basically.

If it stocked on Friday I will be stoked.

I personally would be pissed if they opened up general orders without fulfilling orders that are already open. I also don't think that I would be the only one. So I seriously doubt that there will be a fresh stock that people could purchase from on Black Friday - that would be a terrible PR move on Google's behalf.

Hello all i am also in this crowded uncomfortable boat. I wouldn't see it as to big of a stretch for google to ship out the rest of the devices tomorrow morning and then make it available on google play as as soon as the last order has shipped. This would only make sound business sense as i imagine they have been scrambling to get all the devices ordered shipped out so they could have it back on sale for this weekend. If they don't manage that they will lose a large number of purchases in the black friday/cyber monday buying frenzy and as google is a large company looking to expand the nexus customer base i doubt they would let that happen. Just my $0.02

No way. Google sells these for a subsidized price. I don't think they care as much about selling them as T-Mobile who charges an extra $100 or locks you into a contact. If Google was serious about selling a lot of these for this price then we wouldn't all be in this situation right now. Its a holiday weekend. Google employees are enjoying sitting around the thanksgiving table, showing off their new Nexus 4s to their families. They don't even care about us enough to give us an honest answer about when our phones will arrive. You really think Google doesn't know when new phones will arrive? They do. They just don't care. I don't know about you guys, but when I ordered my phone, their website said "in stock" not "backordered." Getting that email two days later was not OK. I placed my order when the phone was in stock. Where is my phone? I lost so much faith in Google over the last week. How can I trust them with all my personal information if they can screw up something as simple as selling three products from their website? That Qi charger is never going to be available. They're just going to string people along forever like with the dock for the nexus 7.

I think you are 100% correct.

In all likelihood google has more than enough stock to ship out, but more than likely poor communication as well as improper planning on googles part caused this. Google isn't worried about profit margins with the nexus program, however they are interested in getting a large number of android users to switch to the nexus devices. Getting all of the current orders shipped out would allow them to place more devices up for sale online, if they don't manage that before this weekend a lot of customers will be drawn to other phones at special deals. More than likely google is doing anything they can to get orders shipped so they can sell more devices. Im not saying what google is doing is right, its not, im incredibly angered by this incident, but i still believe that they are trying to fix this albeit poorly.

I would bet anything that we hear absolutely nothing from Google about this until next week at the earliest. I really hope you're right, but I seriously doubt it. If they put this phone back up for sale on the play store before I get a shipping confirmation, I'm closing every account I have with Google and I'm getting an iPhone... I hate apple for being a douche company, but this whole situation makes me think Google is no different.
