Email Search Problem

So I can't figure out how to search my email with the default mail client. I have tried several types of emails. My friend who has a Nexus 4 has a search button, but mine doesn't. Even if I am in a folder with emails the search button does not appear....See screenshot....

That's weird. Mine has has the search icon for all of my IMAP and POP accounts. I don't see anything in the settings that lets you disable search.

Hopefully someone can suggest a solution.

Hmmmmm....that is wierd. I also have a seach button with my hotmail account.

Everything is up to date. I tried restoring everything to with no luck...its very annoying
