    Announced at the Google IO was ability to swipe away notifications across devices.

    I have LG Nexus 4 and Google Nexus 7. But notifications still come up on both devices, am I missing a trick to activate the Google Cloud Messaging (GCM)

    It's app specific.. The app has to take advantage of the framework now that it's available. Google has built it into the Google+ and Hangouts apps, I believe Gmail as well, but it won't just work until the app developer implants it.

    wrong... its app specific like 2defmouze mentioned above. G+ and hangouts make use of it now.
    its build into google play service which released a month ago. it not specific to OS.
