My phone is maxing out my data with Exchange Services. How do I make it stop?

    Thanks.

Try turning off sync / push (or whatever its called in Exchange).

The Apple version had this exact issue a couple of months back and I believe it was something to do with the app constantly sync'ing. A bug fix release fixed the issue, but I seem to recall that a temporary work around was turning sync off and refreshing e-mails manually. A quick google might confirm that ..

Thanks - I read several reports from last year of people having this problem, and there were several suggestions for how to fix it, but none sounded like "the answer". I'll fiddle around with the settings. I did change the Auto Synch or whatever to 15min. Maybe that'll do it.

I also found a bug report addressing this issue at google:

    https://code.google.com/p/android/is...sort=&id=37437

It appears that it is still not fixed after several months.

My sympathy for people on a limited data plan.

In 24 hours, I've gone from 2.8GB to 3.44GB downloaded by Exchange Services.

Just got off the phone with customer service. They suggested that I clear the application cache. I was surprised that he didn't know what Exchange Services was - I had to tell him. To clear the cache, go to Settings > Apps > click All at the top of screen > Exchange Services and clear both Data and Cache. For good measure, I also deleted the hotmail account I was using with Exchange Services and booted into safe mode and back again. If it continues to download data, I'll disable it.

I'm on the latest OS release, v4.2.2.

This is costing me bandwidth and throttling. I'd be VERY pissed if I were paying by data use.

It appears that deleting the account from Exchange Services has stopped the bleeding. I guess I'll just install the Hotmail app now and forget using Exchange Services - I hope I won't feel the need to ever use it again. By the number of people on the bug fix thread, it looks like this is a common problem - and it's not a minor bug - it's a major flaw that could potentially cost hundreds of dollars in data fees. Google should fix this.

Strange. One of my accounts is Exchange, and I haven't had this problem.
