So long story short my Verizon Galaxy Nexus has died today... I really don't see the need for giving Verizon $100 for a refurbished replacement. Plus I am not going to pay Verizon full price for a "unlocked" locked device on Verizon to keep my unlimited plan. GSM route and grab the Nexus 4. I am planning on trying out AT&T network's first via goPhone and if that sucks use T-Mobile truly unlimited plan.

My question is simple should I order today or wait to see what Google's announcement will be on the 24th to place my order?

I was thinking the same thing to replace my Gnex not to long ago and I went for the N4 and glad I did. I am very happy with the phone. I did not want to wait several months for a new Nexus that may or may not come out. Ultimately it's up to you.

I would order it today. Just order it now, and you will have your 15 days of worry free returning still available, so that would be around August 5th. Also, since Google's announcement is coming up there might be people who want to get their hands on a Nexus 4 on the day of the announcement because they could fear that Google may stop selling it, so in a sense its a nice little investment if that does happen since you could sell it for more than you got it for. Also Nexus devices generally have a high resale value, just like the iPhones and S3/S4's so you wouldn't be losing like 3/4's of your money if you decide to sell later on for the next best thing. Coming from an analytic standpoint buying it would give you no risks for the first 15 days, and after that maybe a 10% loss in cost. It's a very healthy risk to have!

I'm in the same boat, I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a nexus 4 right now with googles upcoming announcement. I hate playing the waiting game, but don't want to buy something that will be outdated right after I bought it!

Well Google's announcement isn't more than 15 days away so you can always return it if something new comes out, but if it doesn't then you'd already have gotten a great new phone that will be great and great and great until the next 2 years are up!

Buy it. Nexus phones hold their value (the unlocked ones at least) and we won't see another Nexus phone until the fall if Google holds to their current pattern. Now, what you *may* want to hold off for if you aren't sold on a Nexus is the Moto X. Everything points to it being about as stock as you can get, and we don't know what kind of pricing it will have. It may be a very attractive option. As others have said however, you have 15 days to return the Nexus 4 which will be within the announcement period of the Moto X, so unless you just don't want to deal with the hassle of the return and you need a phone now, go ahead and pick up a Nexus 4.

I ordered a Nexus 4 on Thursday night as my iPhone 4S broke. 8GB from Google Play direct, seemed good for just 239!

Wait. Unless you like the hassle of returning it. Not that you wouldn't love the phone - and not that the Moto X is a Nexus device - but it might be worth waiting for.

Normally I vote buy a phone when you need it rather than waiting for the latest and greatest to come along.

But in this case, as Moto's event is less than two weeks away, you might as well wait and see what Google and Motorola have cooked up.

Get the N4. It's a well built beauty and beast for dirt cheap. Google's going to annouce the Nexus 7 2 and Android 4.3 (which you'll get right away on the N4)...not the N5 and KLP. The Moto X is a nice enough phone, but it's no Nexus (won't have the quality and quantity of dev support or direct OTAs if you're boring : p ) and the N4 out-specs it anyway. No brainer here. You'll be able to sell it for about what you bought it, perhaps more if you're willing to ship to a country that doesn't have Google Play access.

In your shoes, I would pay the $100 for the replacement GNex. I bet you can still sell it for $100 when the new Nexus comes out.

deails have been released!! It looks awesome and looks to have lots of computing power - will this be a personal phone or a work phone or both? i ask because i originally have a phone that squeeked by on power and upgraded it before it was too late. i do a ton of multitasking so things like exchange email, amtel mdm, bluetooth streams can all add up but are necessary.

    GOOD LUCK!

Are you pleased with your Nexus 4?

I was waiting for the new Nexus 7 but i think the smaller phone might be better for me.

I want it for surfing, watching football when traveling etc. Having something to go in the pocket might be better than having to carry a tablet about.

But then do I wait a couple of months for a possible Nexus 5.

Nexus 4 has some great reviews and is well priced. I am very confused as to what to do.
