Camera app default question

Why does the camera app now upon opening default to the gallery (I'm running 4.4.2)? When I click on the camera icon, I want the camera to open up, not the gallery. I don't see anywhere to change that. Can it be changed?

Try going into settings/apps find the camera app and click on clear defaults...

Thanks. I realized that my camera app had the gallery icon, so somehow that icon got corrupted during the upgrade. I removed it and then put the camera app back on my home screen and it's working properly now.
