Before the N4 I used a virgin mobile android phone for years and i can't even remember what it was called lol but got the n4 when it first came out, and everyday I'm finding a new thing I like about it.

Today: I was in a situation where I needed to scan a document and send it to a company, with no access to a scanner - took a pic with my phone, sent it in a mail - great success!

If you run into the need more than occasionally, consider spending 99 cents for Mobile Doc Scanner: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...m.stoik.mdscan - it's a great little app.

I just trashed a full bed scanner and choose not to buy another one after reading your post. The resolution of my Moto X camera is better than most of the cheapo scanner I was considering as a replacement. Now I wonder where their competition is at with features or if there even is any other apps similar.

What is the difference between using this app and just taking a photo and emailing the photo?

From the play store listing (highlights mine):

Transform any image into PDF format.
Automatic, high quality document edge detection and perspective correction.
★ Manual free Advanced image processing to enhance poor quality images and documents.
★ Quickly scan and manage multi-page documents on the go
★ Scan, upload or send any document quickly, including receipts, news and magazine articles, invoices, coupons, posters and much more
★ Cloud storage and social network integration for accessibility and sharing
Of course, there are other features, but I find these most helpful.

Camscanner is good too. Saves the pics as a PDF. Works great
