Random battery

I've restarted my phone at 40% but on restart it came back at 21%

I'm not surprised. The phone uses a lot of power booting up, which includes tasks such as checking for and installing new versions of apps.

19% drop during startup isn't normal if accurate, it's more likely an issue with the Android method of calculating battery remaining.

I've seen this on multiple devices so think it likely related to Android.

I noticed my phone did that once but only once that I have noticed. Only since 5.0.1 did I start having this problem as well as my battery drain so fast now as well. Aiden I'm sure the next update will fix it though.

Have you deleted your cache via recovery?

Yes I have but battery life still sucks. I have now seen that 5.1 is starting to roll out to n5 and 6!!! Hopefully this helps when it reaches our phones.

I ask because I had good battery life on 4.4.4 and when I went to 5.0.1 it took a turn for the worst.
