Why does the top part of my Nexus 4 screen became unresponsive?

Top part of my nexus 4 screen became unresponsive

Address bar in chrome works with double tap now not with single touch , also the Google bar on home screen works sometimes with persistent try. This all happened suddenly yesterday morning without any physical damage like fall or water etc. if I try to delete some shortcut I can't as screen unresponsive at top section and dragging stops when it reaches that section, I can still see the drop down notifications, tried previous questions but no solution yet.

Welcome to Android Central! Does it persist after a reboot? How about Safe Mode? https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2852139?hl=en. Or wiping the cache partition? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5994.

It's possible the digitizer is failing. Unfortunately, that would need to be replaced, since it's a hardware issue.
