I subscribe to the Google Play Music streaming service, which I love. However, I could have sworn I have seen demos of Google Now where the user simply says "Ok Google, play music by <insert artist name>", or something like that and Google Now would automatically start playing songs by that artist. I think there were a few other related commands but I can't recall.

When I say this command to Google Now, it just comes up with a list of internet search results that include Google Play Music links to actually purchase the songs. I'd like it to just play music from the unlimited sreaming service that I subscribe to.

Anyone else have any luck getting that to work?

it works for me to just say "ok google, play <specific song title or band>". its weird bc i dont recall that working on GNex

Ok, I think I figured it out. When I say "OK, Google. Play Kanye West". It brings up results with a photo of Kanye West and a blue box that says "Choose how to play or buy", with a Google Play link to the left. That blue box is not clickable though, which is what had me stuck.

But I just realized the Google Play link is actually a drop down list (it's not obvious), from which you can select one of the installed music services on the phone. Once you select Google Play Music, it streams music by Kanye West. Any subsequent searches, do it automatically. Nice.

Thank you! I tried to figure this out for days and didn't notice the pulldown for Google Play Music. It works perfectly now!
