I've had my phone for over a month and never thought the speakers were a problem. I also think there is nothing wrong with my buttons. They don't wobble and aren't loose. Perhaps it was only certain phones that had that problem? Or perhaps the design adjustment was implemented a few weeks ago and we just noticed now?

This is the second time this has happened. The Nexus 4 added the infamous "nipples" last year. I'm not going to overreact to this, but it's getting pretty annoying to buy a device from Google only for them to redesign it later on. So not only did they release the device with software issues (specifically the camera and speaker), but with hardware issues that they've only now corrected, leaving those of us early adopters with an inferior device.

I spoke with Google this morning and their reaction was that if there's nothing wrong with my device, they won't exchange it. My response was that if there's nothing wrong with my device, why did they redesign it? It got me nowhere. I'm not overly concerned with it because I actually had bought mine at Best Buy and they'll replace it, but the fact that Google did this 2 years in a row is annoying.

Something so pointless really doesn't bother me in the slightest. I mean bigger speaker grills? You could bust off the plastic grill altogether and the speaker will still be the same speaker. As far as the thicker buttons go, mine don't rattle unless I shake the phone vigorously. And even then, it's so subtle that I don't consider mine to have the "button rattle" problem like some have reported. I'm pretty particular about my devices and the small details, but that's nonsense to be upset about that. Worst case scenario, tell Google yours has some problem and get it replaced with a 'new' one.

Could care less about this update. My buttons are tight enough and the speakers work more than well enough for my needs. Loving my LG Tone+ hbs 730 bluetooth headset for music.

For me, it's not really about the added functionality (if there even is any). It's the fact that they consistently release devices that aren't ready to be released and correct it later on. The changes they made really don't bother me that much as my phone works just fine.

I hear ya. I agree that it's ridiculous because if they can push them out a month after release, they probably already had those changes approved down the pipeline yet still sold the stock of phones that didn't have the 'improvements'. But if you're phone works just fine and you're satisfied, that's when I don't see why it's a big deal. People are acting like Google put in a Bose speaker in the 'improved' model and replaced the ceramic buttons with precious jewels.

I've had both models. Really it's not much difference, but when you drop ~400 on a phone you expect it to have some level of perfection. It's worse as the $ goes up. I replaced mine without even knowing there was a hardware update, as the power key was so damn loose. Call google and they'll replace the phone

Y'all are a difficult bunch to please.

I don't know about you but I work for my money. I don't like spending it on a hero phone only to find out that mine is a beta model and the people buying it after me are getting the improved version for the same amount.

I would be upset too. Next year, I would recommend waiting a few months after release to see what happens. I wanted to order on release this year but decided to wait to see what people said about it. I'll be waiting to see what happens with next years model before I buy another Nexus.

A similar thing happened with the at&t LG G2 except it was the price. I paid 199 on contract and within a few weeks it was 99. Fortunately at&t credited my acct but I had to practically make them. It went to 49 but I didn't bother calling them again.
