Smart Dialer not working

I can type in a contacts name and it will show up.. However, if I search for "Pizza", nothing pops up.. I am a Google Voice and CM11 user if that makes a difference.

You may need to install the Google Experience Launcher if you haven't already.

Is that not the same as the stock (or CM11) launcher on the Nexus 5?

Also, when calling, the photos of contacts are blurry how they were on ICS, but I think 4.1 or 4.2 fixed that.. but now are blurry again.

Stock Nexus 5 Kit Kat has "Search contacts & nearby places" on the dialer screen. Does yours?

I tried to install the Google Experience Launcher, but I get the message that that it is just updating a built-in application, and then it fails.

I found a solution. I flashed the dialer app from here:

"NOTE: Google Dialer must NOT be flashed on a clean install or you will have FC's.

What does that mean about flashing on clean install? What do you have to do after installing your ROM before you can install it, and it'll work properly?

Had same problem - fixing by allow app 'htc sense input' in settings

There are lot of smart dialler apps avaialble in the paly store you can go for that also..Even i am using one of the app

Make sure the setting is on in the dialer settings. I forgot I turned mine off, and was wondering why it wasn't working. I just had to turn it on again in the dialer settings.
