Another vote for business calendar, been using it for years. Can customize the widget and the app does anything pretty much you could need.

Touch Calendar works well and is free, CalenGoo works well and cost something (but I can't remember how much), but the truth is, they all work fine. You just have to stick with one and get used to how it functions. Check out the screens they all have available and pick one that looks pretty close to what your hoping for.

I like Touch Calendar for the month display with actual text for events, which is my primary view. SPlanner was the only thing I appreciated from TouchWiz and Touch Calendar fills that void on non-Samsung devices. There is a free version that was fine for me, but I bought it anyway since I liked it and it wasn't much.

Agreed. It totally sucks the big one. There was NOTHING WRONG with the old one (I'm shouting so the knuckleheads at Google who changed the app can hear me :)
