How does gallery sort pictures?

Hey guys.. I have a question about how the gallery sorts it pictures... Whenever I transfer a folder from computer to the Nexus, the pictures are all messed up... I have tried sorting them in every possible way before transferring, name, date, size, type, etc.. nothing works.. I've even tried to change the names alphabetically, but nothing works

Anyone knows how to fix this?

What are you naming the folder? Are the pictures you're transferring from a Nexus 5? or something else?

I am transferring from a Mac to my Nexus 5. I have one folder called Wallpapers, and another called House. In the House folder, I have pictures named IMG_1056, IMG_1057 and IMG_1058, but that doesn't matter either :/

Btw, I also have ES File Manager, and when I view my pictures there, they are sorted correctly! It is only in the gallery app the problem occurs.

Yeah I've seen this too, I transferred photos from my laptop to my phone and they're all over the place! Some seem to be in the correct order then some are just in random places..
