Nexus 5: 1080p in the YouTube app?

Anyone else *not* get the 1080p option in the YouTube app? Both mine and my dad's Nexus 5 still only get a max of 720p in the app.

• 240p
• 360p
• 720p

I've never had an option above 720p but perhaps I may never have clicked on any 1080p clips...in that case the option might come up.

Same. Highest is still 720P for me as well.

My HTC One M8 does 1080p on YouTube. My Nexus 7 2013 does not, with stock Android 4.4.4. I installed Cyanogenmod 11 this week, and it still does not have the 1080p option. The app is obviously checking which hardware it is on, and blocking the option. The Nexus 7 2013 is 1920x1200, so this does not make any sense.

Not that 720p was unbearable by any means, but it's nice to know they're finally allowing the device to actually take advantage of the resolution on their videos.

I've been getting 1080 (or more) when it's available using the tubemate app. It can be used for streaming just like the YouTube app.

The app had to be updated to allow 1080p. Now that is has ... the Nexus 5 has no issues playing it .
