How much future proof is the nexus 5 considering 64-bit architecture and chipsets are round the corner?

It will still take some time for developers to really start taking advantage of the 64 bit architecture, so I'd say the Nexus 5 is still good for another couple of years.

If the price drops, in anticipation of getting rid of inventory, as Google prepares for the next Nexus...As happenned last year...I'll buy another N5 in a heartbeat..."Nuff said? Still an excellent phone!

64 bit most useful feature is increased RAM recognition. Not much of an issue with current phones.

Now having said that, the next Nexus if there is one is due soon, so I also plan on getting one of those...Depending on its features, QI, charging and at least 32GB Storage, being the most important.

It took PCs a good 5+ years to take advantage of 64 bit architecture. Phones may take advantage of it faster, but I suspect it's not likely simply given most consumers aim for lower end hardware anyway, as well as most phones don't need the obvious advantages (extra addressable memory).

As has been mentioned, it depends on your storage needs. I'm finding 32 GB not enough (even with USB OTG) but for someone else that might be plenty. Otherwise it's an excellent device which will work brilliantly for years.
