Why can't I view files in the downloads folder on my Nexus 5 but it says there are 229mb of files in there?

Cant view files in downloads folder on Nexus 5 but 229mb of files in there

I copied the contents of my phone to my laptop, then did a factory reset on my device. I copied all the data back to my phone after, but when I open the downsloads folder there are no files in there. On the phone itself it shows 229MB of data there, but I cannot see it on my phone. I can open it on my laptop tho. Any ideas how I can view the files on my phone again?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! On the phone, are you using the Downloads app, or a 3rd party file manager app like ES File Explorer? If you're using the Downloads app, it may be that the various manipulations of the files made them unrecognized by the Downloads app.

Do you think you may have disabled something. ? Because when i got my note 4 i was disabling bloat and i disabled an app to view files. That may be your case and you may have just disabled an app that allows you to biew storage files.
